HISTORY

Maxwell did not leave us four tidy vectorial equations. He left us twenty, written in quaternions, describing a universe brimming with accessible energy and a consciousness that could reach into it. Within twenty years of his death four men had taken a blade to the manuscript, and the pages they cut out are the pages that mattered. Tesla read the original and lit bulbs miles from any wire. This is the story of what was lost, who lost it, and who became famous by its loss.

In 1942 a Philadelphia watchmaker copyrighted a very unusual map of a world that showed an enlarged US, a united Europe, and Palestine marked Hebrewland, six years before Israel was created. This is not prophecy, it shows how history is forged: the law firm that banked Hitler, the spymaster with SS on the payroll, or the 11 minutes it took a broke president to OK a new state.
